Points in the Botanical Garden in New York

The New York Botanical Garden is home to more than a million plants – and now also works by the sought-after Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

Kusama, who is most famous for her colored dots called “polka dots,” has already exhibited all over the world and has become one of the most successful artists of her generation.

The show, which was actually planned for 2020, will be on view until October 31. The exhibition in the Bronx green space revolves primarily around Kusama’s commitment to nature and features numerous objects and installations by the artist. Information about the current exhibition.

Her idea of covering the whole world with a pattern is based less on an egomaniacal mania than on a loving and peaceful idea of equality and unity. At first glance, the turbo-marketing of Kusama’s look from catwalk to museum store may not quite fit in with this. At second glance, however, it does: only mass products can help the world finally score completely. Further reports on the artist Yayoi Kusama.
